Finsa Decorative Veneer Selection

Veneer offers the very best of wood. Naturalness, touch, warmth, decorative effect, material nobility and origin.

Wood is ever-present in our lives. Throughout generations, it has accompanied us and has been a part of our living environments. It is in our past, present and future. Wood veneers connect us with the essence of wood: look, feel and warmth. At the same time, it allows preserving this precious natural resource. Technically, it consists of a thin layer of natural wood applied over a technical wood core medium, with infinite possibilities.

A decorative surface that we can see, feel and touch. A material with excellent performance, which offers the best results in a variety of applications: doors, furniture, panelling. Different and unique spaces, adapted and customised to any decorative style. This is what natural wood veneer can offer. This is its origin. Unique by nature.

Wood veneer is a versatile material that adapts to new trends without losing its essence. Natural or multilaminate veneers, in natural tones or treated through dyeing or fuming processes, refined or rustic compositions show us that natural materials also add design value. In our four collections – Carácter, Organic, Milano and Bohemian, we have selected veneers with a unique and innovative character, which allow you to create your own style.

Notes on Manufacturing of Wood Veneer

SLICING TECHNIQUES: One of the characteristics that defines wood veneer, in addition to the species, is the design itself. We can control the final result, by applying different slicing techniques.

JOINTING TECHNIQUES: The veneer sheets are joined to form the layons of veneer. Different jointing techniques can be used depending on the intended decorative effect.

Book Match

It is the most common method: The strip are turned before being jointed, so that each sheet is symmetric to the previous one, resulting in a "mirrored" or "open book" effect.

Slip Match

The sheets are jointed without turning them, to produce a repetitive pattern.

Mixmatched

The sheets are jointed randomly. A jointing process with unlimited possibilities, both regarding strip structure, combination of strips widths, colours of the different sheets, etc.

VENEER GRADES: There is a market standard that ranks veneer grades. It is a visual classification of faces, based on the various characteristics of natural wood: Symmetrical or balanced structure, tone, and uniformity. According to this classification, we can set apart three grades of veneered panels:

PLUS 033

Well-defined and centred structure, uniform colour, without process-related defects or natural wood imperfections.

SELECT 035

Standard Quality. Good structure, small variations in colour and appearance generally attractive.

NATURAL 036

Varied and irregular structure, with greater variation in colour, shorter series of similar faces, with some knots and other natural imperfections.
